Is there really such a thing as Artificial Intelligence?
There are two kinds of artificial intelligence, but only one of which has become a reality.
There is artificial specific intelligence (ASI) and artificial general intelligence (AGI). AGI, I believe, is what you’re asking about with your question. Basically, AGI is when a machine achieves the same intelligence as a human. This we have not achieved, though many are working toward it.
ASI, however, has been developed and we’re actually really great at it. This is when a machine can perform the same tasks as a human, but only very specific tasks. This is like when your Alexa can play music or order you more paper towels. Your Alexa can’t do your dishes.
We achieve AGI when we create a machine that can do multiple/many/nearly all things a human
can. But for now, we only have AI that can perform very particular tasks.
